Channel 1 was a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite TV channel launched on 24 January 2006. It was owned by One Entertainment Limited and broadcast entertainment and news programs for all ages. The channel was founded by Giasuddin Al Mamun, though he claimed it had no political links. Channel 1 quickly expanded its reach, broadcasting not only in Bangladesh but also across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. However, it was shut down on 27 April 2010 by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission for using rented broadcasting equipment, which violated local laws. After years of silence, Channel 1 made a comeback on 27 April 2026, returning exactly on the same date it was shut down before. Its revival marks a new chapter in Bangladeshi television history.
